Erika Peterman
Partner
Erika co-founded Sova Partners as a means to merge her creative, legal and business expertise under one roof and offer comprehensive consulting services. She graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in 2001, litigated for 15 years, but since 2018 has focused on helping small businesses and individuals creatively navigate governmental and legal challenges. She works closely with Montana businesses to develop unified and comprehensive solutions to government/business challenges.
Additionally, Erika has worked all over the state as a creative and professional photographer. She has created on behalf of businesses and campaigns in Montana’s rural and Native communities, including U.S. Senator Jon Tester’s 2018 re-election campaign and Governor Steve Bullock’s 2020 Presidential bid. She has photographed President Joe Biden, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, and Sheryl Sandberg, among others. Her photos have appeared on the covers of Big Sky Journal, the Missoula Independent, Paddle World Magazine and the Montana Free Press. In 2018 her work was featured in an article in The Guardian about the impact of the Keystone XL pipeline on Montana’s Fort Peck Indian Reservation. Erika received her J.D. from the University of Montana and her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College, with studies in Galway, Ireland. A member of the Montana State Bar, she has also been paid to sing in one.
Jenn Ewan
Partner
As an attorney and project developer/manager, Jenn assists in identifying and executing on real estate development projects in commercial, residential, and mixed-use sectors. Jenn’s legal expertise, economic development background, coupled with years of legislative and community relations work make her uniquely qualified and versatile to helping clients bring their real estate projects to life.
Jenn has provided guidance and support to startup and growth phase companies, as well as advice and legal expertise on a variety of transactional, private investment, trademark, employment, and corporate matters such as mergers or acquisitions.
Prior to starting Sova with Erika, Jenn was senior counsel in Michael Best & Friedrich’s Corporate, Transactional, and Real Estate practices.
Jenn served as the Vice President of the Missoula Economic Partnership. In that role, she: pro-actively identified and courted related investment opportunities, maintained strong investor relationships, scoped, implemented, and led MEP special projects on initiatives such as air service and workforce development, lead MEP’s economic development team in business retention & expansion, attraction, and business development opportunities, and maintained liaisons with various local, State, and Federal agencies.
Jenn also served as in-house counsel for two software companies and worked for nearly six years for U.S. Senator Max Baucus. Jenn volunteers as an External Review Panel member for the City of Missoula and University of Montana’s police departments, reviewing felony sexual assault cases for each department.
Jenn received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her J.D. from the University of Montana, with studies in Beijing, China. She is a member of the Montana State Bar and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the State of Montana.
